Chris acted for Torbay Council which turned down an application for 219 homes on a former holiday centre in Brixham. The key issue was the assessment of landscape and visual impact on the historic headland. The inspector dismissed the appeal.

Reading Borough Council served an enforcement notice in relation to a helicopter landing pad within the grounds of a private residence on the banks of the Thames. The case was complex, relating to the flight pattern of the helicopter, the visibility of the pad and the alleged impact of the downthrust on trees covered by a tree protection order. The inspector agreed that the landing pad and operation of the helicopter were legal and the client was awarded costs. Chris won two other appeals with costs for the same client in relation to ground mounted solar at the property and entrance gates.

Chris has prepared written evidence for appeals in Scotland and has acted for developers in association with large residential schemes including Northstowe New Town in Cambridge. Chris has also made representations promoting schemes through the Local Development Framework.
