Private dwellings - Princes’ Lane, Clifton, Bristol
Gaining consent for a large dwelling clinging to the side of the Avon Gorge, to be built within the curtilage of a listed property just in front of the Clifton Suspension Bridge was almost an impossible challenge. It required a thorough and analytical landscape and visual Impact assessment which informed the architectural design. Meticulous attention to detail was required in the landscape design (which includes a green roof) to ensure this ‘hidden house’ (as dubbed by the press) blended in with its surroundings. The scheme caught the imagination of many people in Bristol and gained consent first time around.
